Body-worn camera footage documents the Nov. 19, 2020 officer-involved shooting in which Rodney Applewhite, 25, was shot and killed by responding New Mexico State Police officers in Los Lunas.

Applewhite was reportedly driving at excessive speeds and lead police on a chase. when the officers caught up to him, he was standing outside of his vehicle. Applewhite continuously refused to obey the commands of the responding officers and then attempted to grab the arresting officers gun.

The assisting officer was able to fire off what appears to be two great shots in which he could engage the suspect without hitting his partner. Applewhite hits the ground as officers call for emergency units. Applewhite died of his wounds.
