Helmet cam firefight footage shows Bangladeshi troops battling it out with insurgents as part of their commitment to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

The soldier peacekeepers seen in the video are likely members of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Company of the Bangladesh Battalion (BANBATT), whose primary goal is to protect the civilian population from sectarian violence perpetrated by Muslim Séléka fighters and Christian anti-balaka militias.

To complicate the matters further, Russia had deployed hundreds of Spetsnaz "advisors" to CAR in support of the incumbent president who lives in fear of a coup from political adversaries. Russia now continues to prop up the CAR government through the deployment of private military contractors (PMCs), often labled "Wagner Group." By calling the Russian troops PMCs, it allows Russia deniability of its actions on the official international stage.
