Afghan Women Receiving Death Threats and Rights Completely Revoked by Taliban

A Sky News exclusive interview with two young Afghan women, shows the reality of how the Taliban have been treating women since the withdraw of the United States.

Touching base on what was discussed during one of yesterdays video stories, the Taliban have completely stripped civil liberties from women since the takeover. These actions have completely contradicted Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s longtime spokesman, statement made during a news conference on August 17th, 2021.

During this conference, Mujahid promised the Taliban would honor women’s rights within the norms of Islamic law, furthermore allowing women to participate in schooling and careers of their choice. In many countries however, Islamic law can be skewed in whichever way they believe is right. Prior to the twenty-year war, Islam in Afghanistan was skewed to be strict, leaving women in the shadows of men.

As the reporter mentions, there are little to no women walking the streets or shopping in the markets anymore. Even if they are out, they won't speak to westerners and have completely changed their attire, to fit the Taliban's version of Islamic law. What was once a liberated country under the United States and Allied Forces, has completely crumbled after the embarrassing withdraw plan executed by the Biden administration.
