Kurdish protesters overran a Turkish military base and destroyed equipment to protest against Turkish airstrikes hitting residential areas and killing civilians in northern Iraq’s Kurdistan.

The event took place in Shaladze on Saturday. Turkish forces responded to the breach with small arms fire, killing at least one protestor and wounding a dozen.

The protesters set vehicles and dwellings ablaze, attempting to cause as much damage as possible before the riot was contained. The Turkish government blamed the PKK, a Kurdish separatist party for inciting the protest.
