Turkey Officially Booted From F-35 Program

As punishment for accepting the Russian-made S-400 air defense system, Turkey has been officially booted from the F-35 program.

As part of that decision, Turkey will not receive any of the advanced jets and their contracts for production of parts and supplies for the program will be ended as well. Turkey was an original member in the F-35 development Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program.

President Trump begrudgingly made the announcement, as the decision will cost the US a half a billion dollars. He blamed the Obama Administration for not selling the Turks American-made Patriot missile systems for air defense, which pushed them to the Russians.

“Turkey’s decision to purchase Russian S-400 air defense systems renders its continued involvement with the F-35 impossible,” the White House stated. “The F-35 cannot coexist with a Russian intelligence collection platform that will be used to learn about its advanced capabilities.”
