A high school student in Plano, Texas has been arrested for allegedly plotting an Islam-fueled massacre at a local mall during Ramadan.

Matin Azizi-Yarand, 17, has been charged with making a terroristic threat and criminal solicitation of capital murder of a Texas peace officer, according to Dallas News.

Azizi-Yarand allegedly planned to carry out the attack later this month with other, as of yet unnamed, attackers. He had spent over a thousand dollars to acquire the gear and weapons necessary to carryout a mass shooting.

According to the reports, Aziz-Yarand had been gathering intelligence on the Stonebriar Centre mall to familiarize himself with the layout and customer activity. He decided to attack during Ramadan so the likelihood of Muslim victims would be minimized.

The wannabe terrorist apparently discussed his plans with FBI agents on the internet, thinking he was talking to sympathetic Islamists. During one conversation, he allegedly stated, “I’d actually like to make a cop surrender and drop his gun … then douse him with gasoline and burn him … record it.”

Law enforcement officials took Azizi-Yarand into custody at his school on Tuesday and he is being held on $3 million bail. If convicted he could face life in prison.
