A Taliban training facility was destroyed on Dec. 2, 2018 by an Operation Resolute Support airstrike, resulting in the deaths of 29 insurgents.
The strike was reportedly carried out by an armed drone, and the facility was located in the Sangin District of Helmand Province.
Militants can be seen conducting some sort of choreographed training routing in formation. The strike doesn’t come until after the enemy forces enter the dwellings.
The frustrating process of getting targets cleared is demonstrated quite well in this video. It likely took several minutes to get the green light to strike, or the first clip was filmed by an unarmed observation drone, and the team had to wait until the armed asset came on station.
Regardless of why… if the insurgents were struck while they were operating in the open, Resolute Support likely wouldn’t have released to video for public viewing.
