Seeing videos like this is a friendly reminder to the situation on the ground inside of Syria. It was only two years ago that the Syrian Government released a tourist attraction video showcasing their beautiful beaches and cities in an attempt to cover up the insanity that has been going on inside of the country for quite some time. If it weren’t for the constant release of footage such as this, it would indeed be able to forget that there is a large scale conflict going on inside of that nation, with many sides struggling for control of the country. If you’re interested in seeing that tourist attraction video, which only received about 5,000 views on Facebook by the way, you can view that by clicking this link.
Fortunately for the rest of the world however, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Whatsapp, and Reddit all exist. Because of these social media platforms, the people in these nations are able to record things on cameras as small as their cellular devices and upload them to the internet for the rest of the world to see. Those videos show the real, raw, and uncut versions of what is happening in their countries.
In this short instance, we have what appears to be a Syrian Rebel walking down the street minding his own business. Out of nowhere, the sounds of bombs can be heard overhead and they are audibly picked up on his camera. He instantly hits the ground, and somehow someway manages to survive four consecutive blasts that all happen within 20-30 meters of his position. By some kind of miracle, the man stands up after the blasts have stopped and the shrapnel is no longer filling the air and he relocate to a better covered position with the rest of his buddies.
This is the reality of daily life in Syria.
