An episode from the web show “Smarter Every Day” follows along as Marines conduct Advanced Helo Underwater Egress Training in Hawaii.

The amphibious egress training, commonly referred to as the “helo dunker,” is a lifesaving exercise that gives Marines the skills and confidence to successfully and safely escape a helicopter that has gone down in a body of water.

While the training focuses on an extremely specific scenario, the fundamentals learned can be used in many other aspects of one’s military career and life in general. Thinking clearly and performing under stress is what the military is all about.
