A US Special Tactics airman fell out of a C-130 aircraft over the Gulf Of Mexico during a jump training exercise on Tuesday, and the service member is still missing, although search and rescue missions are still ongoing.
The airman has yet to be identified, but is reportedly a staff sergeant. Witnesses say that the special tactics airman’s chute opened, and he was last seen treading water.
The Air Force, Army, and Coast Guard are working together to find the missing airman who is stationed with the 24th Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, Florida. The search and rescue crews have already searched a 7,000-square-mile area near Fort Walton Beach and Pensacola.
The Air Force stated that search efforts are ongoing.
