A section of Apache attack helicopters conducting area reconnaissance and surveillance in the Zabul province receive a call for support from a ground element of the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, also known as Task Force One Fury. The ground unit was receiving accurate indirect fire at their Afghan National Army outpost, and needed the AH-64 platforms to come on station to deal with the threat.
The video below is the gun tape footage taken off of the Apaches after the mission was complete. In total the battle damage assessment was 20 enemy fighters killed in action, and the ISAF troops and their partnered ANA soldiers were able to recover two stolen Afghan Army pickup trucks, 15 motorcycles and a significant amount of weapons including two anti-aircraft systems, various rifles, ammunition and bomb-making material.
