It all starts at OCS. The young Lieutenants, straight out of college, must get lost in order to be found. They are let loose into the wild, with nothing more than a map and compass. They must find their own way, or they will never truly become commissioned officers.
The young creatures are given a list of points, each with a respective dog tag labelled with numbers, and they must find their way to each point. Once they have navigated to each point they must return home to the nest, where the NCOs will continue to teach them how to lead.
This is the natural order of things. Please, if you find a lost Lieutenant, I urge you to leave him alone. If you return him to his nest before he can find his points, he will be shunned.
