Iran-backed Houthi rebels attacked a Saudi naval frigate off the coast of Yemen on Monday, killing two Saudi sailors and wounding at least three more.
Although the Houthis claim the attack was carried out by means of a guided missile, the Saudi Navy insists they were targeted by three small “suicide boats” packed with explosives.
The Saudis threatened that the attack “would impact international navigation and the flow of humanitarian assistance to the port for Yemeni citizens,” meaning they will be locking down and heavily policing the ports. Expect to see confrontations between the Saudis and Iranian “humanitarian-aid” vessels, most likely carrying weapons and ammo resupplies to the Houthis.
