When you are given the option of being dead right where you are, and being dead right over there, you’re really stuck. Whoever is on the receiving end of this air support really only has two options. They can stay where they are, and get absolutely obliterated by accurate Russian airstrikes, or they can try to retreat directly into Syrian Army small arms fire.
This is what a combined arms conundrum looks like, and the only people who understand this are the pilots forcing it to happen. It’s a bad day to be a terrorist.
