Multiple video angles show the horrific and deadly Russian Aerojet crash landing at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport that killed over half the people aboard yesterday.
The jet was carrying 73 passengers and five crew members, of which 41 people died in the inferno. Two of the deceased were children. Four of the five crew made it out alive.
The incident is still under investigation and reports are conflicting. Surviving passengers claim they believe the plane was struck by lighting, but Russian authorities have only stated that the plane was experiencing technical issues and had to return for landing.
Other reports claim that the plane caught fire in the air, but one of the video angles suggest that it didn’t burst into flames until it slammed into the ground during the emergency landing.
Normally a plane would dump its fuel tanks before an emergency landing attempt to mitigate the risk of such fires, but the crew determined that dumping the fuel over the city of Moscow was too dangerous to the people below.
