Separatist rebels of the Balochistan Liberation Front released a video showing an L-shaped ambush on a Pakistani military convoy in which a Lieutenant Colonel and five other troops were reportedly killed.
In the footage, two military pickups can be seen driving through mountainous terrain. The rebels have chosen a solid spot for an ambush on the high ground on a sharp bend in the road which forces their target vehicles to slow down.
As they initiate the ambush, using small arms, the lead Pakistani military vehicle stops in the kill zone, for whatever terrible reason. The troops get out of the truck and are shot down within seconds as they indecisively mill about and not return fire.
The second vehicle is tucked below a defilade out of view from the cameraman, but likely well with line of fire for nearby attackers.
The BLF reported that Pakistani Lieutenant Colonel Aamir Waheed and five others were killed, as well as another three troops wounded. The ambush occurred in Murgab, Panjgur, Balochistan on Sept. 4, 2017.
