While Boko Haram continues to make advances on the ground, the Nigerian Air Force is pummeling them from the sky using dated aircraft and dumb bombs.
The following video clips were released by the Nigerian Air Force and show air to ground engagements of Boko Haram terror targets. The videos appear to be recorded by an unknown model of observation drone, and the air to ground attacks are carried out by Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jets (A-Jet), Mi-35M attack helicopters, and Chengdu F-7Ni attack jets.
African troops from the Multinational Joint Task Force recently lost two bases in northeast Nigeria, near the Chadian border, to the Islamic State West Africa (ISWA) branch, also known as Boko Haram. The bases were manned by troops from Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon. A counteroffensive is currently underway to retake the bases.
The various video clips are taken from counter terror operations over the last four months. Although we can see a significant amount of munitions being dropped against the terrorists, news coming out of the region suggests it is doing little to slow the advance of Boko Haram.
