A Navy SEAL qualification night dive was underway in San Diego when the group of cadre and trainees came under fire by a man with an airsoft or pellet gun.
The SEALs called the police, which led to the arrest of 47-year-old Scott Douglass Weaver. Weaver was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, threats, brandishing a replica firearm, and obstruction.
The suspect’s motive is not currently known, nor is it clear if he knew he was targeting a group of SEALs. The investigation is ongoing.
Naval Special Warfare Command reported that no service members were injured. However, the event is making the SEALs reconsider the manner and locations in which they conduct training.
