A man donated his mother’s body to an Arizona body donation center with the understanding that his mother’s brain would be used for Alzheimer’s disease research by neurologists.
“There was paperwork signed stating what was and what was not to happen with her body,” Jim Stauffer said. He also described there being a box that he checked specifically prohibiting military and other non-medical experiments.
“She was supposedly strapped in a chair on some sort of apparatus, and a detonation took place underneath her to basically kind of get an idea of what the human body goes through when a vehicle is hit by an IED,” Stauffer told Reuters.
Stauffer and 33 others are now suing the Biological Resource Center. The body donation center recently made the news after FBI agents found a bucket of human heads, mismatching body parts sewn together, and a cooler of male genitalia.
