There are right ways to do things, and wrong ways to do things. In this version of Iraqi minesweeper, we see how the wrong ways of doing things can get you and your buddies seriously wounded or killed. The old school game on the computer just isn’t the same, but these Shi’a militiamen treat this IED as if it was a harmless image on a computer screen.

It’s easy to get confident, even cocky after you’ve been in combat for a prolonged period of time. Surviving multiple close calls and brushes with death can breed an intense sense of self confidence, bordering on recklessness. Some guys are just morons and this Iraqi ordinance removal tech (if he can even be called that), and his pals certainly appear to fall into that category. Nonchalantly hovering around a live explosive, poking and prodding as if it were no big deal.

While hanging around this explosive might not be a big deal to the militiamen, it should have been and is ultimately a large enough explosion to ruin their entire day. Several of them completely ignore the concept of dispersion and had just surrounded the site moments before detonation. They end up looking over the shoulder of their comrade just as the IED cooks off. Think they should have picked a better place to hang out…
