A recent video recorded outside of Tepic, Nayarit, in western Mexico shows state policing engaging, and reportedly killing, three suspected sicarios.
According to the report, an unidentified, assassinated body was found on the street, wrapped in blankets. The victim had been bound before being executed.
Police acted quickly to cordon off the area in an attempt to catch the perpetrators. Soon, the likely suspects got into a gunfight with the police at a roadblock and made a run for it in a white VW pickup.
The state police gave chase for several miles on a rural highway. Eventually, the suspected hitmen abandoned their vehicles and ran down a steep bank, attempting to lose the police in the hilly, brushy terrain.
The fleeing sicarios made the mistake of exposing themselves in the open bottom as a company-sized element of heavily-armed state police stood ready to fire. The police engaged the suspects with their carbines as helicopters circled overhead.
The report indicated that all three of the suspects were killed during the engagement.
