During a joint patrol near Lashkar Gah, in the Helmand province of Afghanistan, a U.S. service member was killed by an IED atttack. In the same IED attack, one other U.S. service member was also wounded, along with six of their Afghan counter-parts.
Making an official statement General John W. Nicholson, commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, said “On behalf of all of U.S. Forces — Afghanistan, as well as Resolute Support, our deepest sympathies go out to the families and friends of those involved.”
The names of the deceased and wounded have not been released at this time. Currently, the military is trying to reach the families of the service members to inform them of the incident. America may have forgotten about the war in Afghanistan, but the war in Afghanistan has not forgotten about us.
