Two Marines were arrested on July 3, 2019 by the US Border Patrol for allegedly smuggling illegal aliens in proximity of the US southern border in California.
Lance Cpl. Byron Darnell Law II and Lance Cpl. David Javier Salazar-Quintero face federal charges after they were pulled over with three undocumented immigrants in there vehicle. They were approximately seven miles north of the border.
The Marines are reportedly infantry riflemen of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, stationed at Camp Pendleton.
The Marines are facing federal charges for allegedly smuggling the illegal aliens for the “purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain.”
Lance Cpl. Law claimed that Lance Cpl. Salazar-Quintero offered him $1,000 to help in facilitating the smuggling operation. However, Salazar-Quintero claimed that he was recruited by Law to conduct the human trafficking jobs.
During questioning, the undocumented immigrants said that they were Mexican citizens and were going to pay $8,000 for entrance into the US.
