Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) found themselves facing an ISIS unit that was using a grain silo as an easily defendable fortress.
The giant concrete complex allowed the Islamic State fighters to have a bird’s eye view of the SDF’s locations and maneuvers. As you can hear in the video, they were using snipers to harass the Kurdish-led forces as well. The SDF weighed their options and decided that by calling in a Western coalition airstrike, they would mitigate the risk of losing friendly troops while killing several ISIS members in the process.
