Iran just admitted to “unintentionally” shooting down Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA) flight PS752 over Tehran, killing 176 people.
Until the admission, Iran claimed engine failure was the cause of the crash, although significant evidence, including videos of the missile strike and fragments of the missile were found at the crash site. Iran even tried hindering the investigation further by bulldozing the crash site to destroy and hide evidence.
A sad day. Preliminary conclusions of internal investigation by Armed Forces:
Human error at time of crisis caused by US adventurism led to disaster
Our profound regrets, apologies and condolences to our people, to the families of all victims, and to other affected nations.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif somehow attempted to blame the US for the murderous incompetence of the Iranian military.
The Islamic Republic of Iran deeply regrets this disastrous mistake.
My thoughts and prayers go to all the mourning families. I offer my sincerest condolences. https://t.co/4dkePxupzm

Iranian President Rouhani at least had the class to accept responsibility for his country’s negligence in his own Tweet. However, the fact that they repeatedly lied about it shows they’re more sorry about getting caught than actually shooting the plane down.
