The following video shows U.S. troops calling in a multiple munition airstrike on a Taliban position from which they were receiving contact.
The jet drops four 500 pound bombs on the location, and the troops are showered in debris. Massive shockwaves are caused by the powerful blasts.
In this rare instance, the soldiers were allowed to go and do a battle damage assessment of the carnage.
They identify 16 dead insurgents, many of which are horribly maimed and ripped apart.
This video was reportedly recorded in the Korengal Valley circa 2011 or 2012 by soldiers the the US Army’s 25th Infantry Division.
It’s possible the battle damage assessment footage is from a separate airstrike incident than the one seen in the beginning of the video, and edited together to make it seem like the same event. However, the outcomes would be similar enough that it wouldn’t matter for most intents and purposes.
