The Iraqi Army Aviation Squadron 55, has once again brought us inside of their cockpit to show us their work. These pilots, flying the Eurocopter EC-635, are providing close air support for troops on the ground, taking the fight to Daesh.
The Iraqi Army purchased the EC-635 in 2009, and didn’t receive their first two until 2011. Since receiving these light helicopters, they have primarily been using them as a fire support platform for troops on the ground, fighting Daesh.
Their primary armament of machineguns, cannons, rockets and Ingwe missiles, have been used with quite a bit of success. We have been seeing videos similar to this coming out of Iraqi Aviation all year long, and we don’t foresee them letting up any time soon.
