Insane SVBIED Montage: Latest From The Battle For Mosul

Here is an SVBIED montage edited down from an hour-long, recently released ISIS propaganda video recorded in Mosul.

Suicide vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (SVBIEDs) are the Islamic State’s most effective tactic against their enemies. Their use of the insane tactic only increases with the more ground they lose and the more desperate they become.

The following video shows the effectiveness of a couple-hundred-dollar recreational remote drone, two-way radios, a homemade armored vehicle, and some high explosive material. The driver of the car bomb is most likely being talked onto target in realtime by those viewing the drone feed. He is being told where the targets are located and which avenue of approach is least guarded. It’s likely that the triggerman isn’t the driver either, but those watching the drone feed as well.

As you can see from the footage, many of the blasts are not all that effective. Yet, some of the footage shows strikes in which multiple Iraqi vehicles troops and vehicles are destroyed in a single instance. What the ISIS fighters lack in infantry tactics, they attempt to make up through the use of SVBIED attacks.

While Iraqi Federal Police and the Iraqi Golden Division troops are taking the majority of the casualties, it must be understood that our very own US Army Rangers and other elite Western troops are embedded with these indigenous troops as part of their advise and assist role. The threat is very, very real.
