On February 14, an explosion killed 40 Indian paramilitary troops in Indian-controlled Kashmir. The attack was carried out by Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). JeM is a known proxy force handled by Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence department (ISI).
Two weeks later, India responded with airstrikes on alleged terror targets within Pakistan. At one point an Indian fighter jet was shot down and an Indian pilot was captured by Pakistan. The transfer of the prisoner back to India is reportedly currently occurring.
