Recently released HiDef footage of Yemen’s national army purportedly on the offensive, clearing Houthi positions in the grueling and jagged mountains near the country’s capital Sana’a. Violence continues in the tiny country on several crucial fronts as the deadly war continues to drag on.
More violence in Yemen as coalition forces simultaneously drive on the capital city of Sana’a and crucial western port city of Hodeidah. Yemeni government forces have released a high-quality HD video detailing operation in the supremely difficult and mountainous terrain near the capital. With troops blasting rebel mountaintop positions utilizing a myriad of heavy weapons and slowly advancing.
Often referred to as the “Hadi” forces, Yemen’s government and military are currently under the command of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi – who was ousted from the nation’s capital of Sana’a back in 2015 by the Houthi Rebels and has been subsequently supported by the Saudi-led coalition. Operations to reclaim the capital have been ongoing for months but progress has been slowed by a stiff Houthi defense.
The Houthi’s in southwestern Yemen have recently increased hit-and-run attacks on Saudi coalition supply lines during their ongoing operation to seize the crucial port city of Hodeidah. The coalition offensive along the narrow coast road has become a ferocious battle with the potential to sever one of the final logistical links between the Houthi’s and their patron Iran.
