A short video shows Hezbollah soldiers clashing in close contact with members of the Islamic State inside of Syria. At several points in this video, things become insanely intense. At one point, a Hezbollah soldier is shot as he peaks around a corner to lay down suppressing fire. He is immediately tended to by what appears to be some sort of unit medic. At another point, an Islamic State fighters pops out from around the corner just a stone’s throw away from one of the Hezbollah soldiers wearing a helmet camera.
It is confusing to watch this video, because both factions are fighting for all of the wrong reasons. Hezbollah’s ultimate goal is to wrap up the Syrian Civil War while maintaining Assad in power so they can continue to traffic weapons to their fighters in Israel, and the goal of ISIS is clearly world domination, and the construction of a global Islamic Caliphate.
That said, from this video, and several other videos that we have seen from Hezbollah, it is very obvious that they are one of the most competent fighting groups involved on the group inside of Syria, exceptions being members of first world countries that are on the ground in advise and assist roles, and also members of the western trained Syrian Defense Force.
