Marines at Patrol Base Georgetown in Kajaki Sofla, Afghanistan on November 22, 2011 come under a hellacious wave of gunfire during an attack on their position. They engage the Taliban fighters with small arms, TOW missiles, and heavy machine guns for over 5 hours while trying to medevac their wounded.
If it weren’t for all of the madness in Helmand Province, some parts of that area would have been absolutely beautiful. There were many times while on patrol where I would be forced to stop, and just admire the Helmand River area. Then things like this happen, and you are reminded that parts of the country are just a living hell for everyone living in the area.
