Hollywood would have you believe that grenade explosions, as well as rockets and mines burst into humungous beautiful balls of fire. Real life is a different story. Most military explosions are less visually pleasing, an instant flash of light, followed by gray, black escaping gasses, and a concussive boom that even the best sound system can do no justice.

In this video, deployed 101st Airborne troops get familiarization on explosive weapons including the M18A1 Claymore directional landmine, the M136 AT-4 rocket launcher, and M67 fragmentation grenades.
