Footage from the Philippines shows a daring rescue mission to retrieve wounded soldiers from an Islamic State sniper’s kill zone.
According to the report, two combat engineers were wounded by ISIS snipers on the embattled streets of Marawi. A special forces solider was able to pull one of the wounded engineers to safety, but was shot on his attempt to rescue the second. The wounded special forces solider was recovered, however, the wounded engineer still remained in the kill zone.
A plan was devised to rescue the trooper using an armored vehicle to reach him, with the aid of smoke grenades to conceal the rescuers. The mission was a success, and their actions exemplify the professionalism, proficiency, and initiative of the Philippines military.
