Fighting In Mosul Intensifies As Islamic State Militants Push Back

A cameraman from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty catches a fierce firefight in Mosul on March 1st as the fighting continues to intensify.

On March 1st, a cameraman on the ground from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty was caught in the middle of a fierce gunfight between Islamic State fighters and the U.S.-backed Iraqi Army. The fighting was recorded at the Wadi Hajar neighborhood, in the southwestern part of Mosul.

On February 19, 2017, and operation to liberate the districts west of the Tigris river was launched by the Iraqi Army. The footage is below is part of the clearing operation that has seen the Iraqi Army engaged in some of the most extreme firefights of the current conflict.

As they continue to try and root out Islamic State fighters in Mosul, one of Iraq’s largest cities, we can expect to see a lot more footage coming out of the area. Not only from the Iraqi Army, but also from the Islamic State. Keep checking back on Funker530 for updates on battle in Mosul.
