Former SSG David G. Bellavia will be getting his Silver Star upgraded to the Medal Of Honor on June 25, 2019 for his heroic actions during the Second Battle Of Fallujah in 2004.

Bellavia’s Medal Of Honor will make him the seventh recipient of the award for Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the only living awardee.

Bellavia went on an absolutely brutal kill rampage against enemy insurgents during a close quarters battle. While his squad was pinned down, he switched out his rifle for an M249 SAW light machine gun and began singlehandedly clearing a building occupied with several enemy combatants.

He shot and killed several fighters and even used his knife to kill an insurgent so as not to give away his position. His actions saved his entire squad and went well above and beyond the call of duty.
