Members of 3rd platoon, Apache Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, engage a group of insurgents in Shawali Khan, Afghanistan.

During an engagement with Taliban forces, members of 3rd platoon, Apache Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, fight through contact in Shawali Khan, Afghanistan. The contact came from three separate buildings, roughly 200 meters away from the units location. 3rd platoon then established a base of fire, and maneuvered on the compounds in question, forcing the Taliban to retreat out of the area of operations.

In the last compound they cleared, the platoon found a large storage facility for what appeared to be a potential grow operation for marijuana and heroin. Strong work boys, give us a shout on Facebook if you were on this mission.
