Color footage of Marines clearing houses during the Battle of Hue City from CBS News. This is what early MOUT operations looked like.

No story about Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) could ever be told without at least mentioning the Battle of Hue City. During the Vietnam war, Marines were tasked with clearing out a city called Hue. Their actions on the objective were recorded, and turned into the standard for much of the United States military. The tactics would continue to evolve once again as the larger urban battles fought in Iraq were recorded, and caused us to once again adjust the way we deal with urban combat situations.

Watch below, as Marines conduct combat operations against a well fortified and entrenched enemy inside of Hue City, Vietnam.
