Another ill-conceived Daesh attack on an Iraqi PMU unit ends quickly and violently with several destroyed vehicles and numerous dead fighters.
An Iraqi PMU (Popular Mobilization Units) in open dessert, entrenched on a hastily dug berm is attacked in broad daylight. Several improvised armored vehicles appear loaded with Daesh fighters and lumber towards the PMU unit.
The PMU opens fire with small arms and RPG’s. Tracers and rounds skip off the steal-laden pick-ups. Regrettably, the video misses how the vehicles are finally immobilized and occupants end up in a meager trench line.
The PMU forms a skirmishers line and advances while tossing hand grenades. After their immediate vicinity is cleared, they pick off the last few Daesh fighters making a desperate run for it. They don’t get far.
This is one of those situations where you’re left scratching your head. What exactly these Daesh fighters expected to accomplish is beyond me. If their goal was a suicidal blaze of glory, there are certainly better ways they could have accomplished that.
However, these fighters try to make a run for it after their vehicles are disabled and they end up in the trench. They either had a change of heart, or it may suggest that this was an actual assault. In that case, it was a deadly miscalculation resulting in the loss of lives and equipment against a far larger force.
Suicidal ideation or gross incompetence, these Daesh rats get dead and only accomplish a cool video.
