Royal Marines conduct an amphibious assault against Taliban insurgents in Helmand two days after Christmas in 2007. The troops’ mission was to keep enemy forces from molesting the Kajaki Dam, a prime terror target.

The area was heavily mined with various booby traps and improvised explosive devices, and the boats allowed the Marines to perform their specialty tasks as well as avoid heavily mined areas. The enemy didn’t know where to expect them.
