Following a Boko Haram (Islamic State affiliate) attack on a base that killed 98 Chadian troops, Chad responded with a brutal counter offensive across Niger and Nigeria, killing dozens of jihadist fighters and destroying five IS bases.

The Chadian offensive dubbed Operation Wrath Of Bohoma is being personally led by the country’s President, Idriss Deby. He vowed the offensive will continue without pause. Boko Haram’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, took to social media to tell his terrorists not to run from the Chadian military and also tried telling Chad’s military that their offensive wasn’t sanctioned by the Qur’an.

Boko Haram has been carrying out mass-murder terrorism in the name of Islam since 2009. In 2015 they swore allegiance to the Islamic State, which further boosted their capabilities through international funding and facilitation.
