Some stunning views of an Su-25 Russian fighter jet are presented as it engages in air-to-ground attacks using unguided “dumb bomb” munitions with a camera mounted under its wing.
Although this is a training video shot over Russian soil, the Russian air force relied heavily on the Su-25 in Syria in defense of the Assad regime against opposition forces. Su-25 aircraft conducted over 1,600 sorties in Syria and dropped approximately 6,000 bombs.
On 3 February 2018 a Russian Su-25 was shot down over Idlib by rebels using a MANPADS. A Syrian militant said that the pilot, Roman Filipov, ejected safely but killed himself with a grenade to avoid capture.
