When your vehicle is burning, your first instinct as a human being is to get out of it. Disregard the fact that people are firing at you, and disregard the fact that there’s still a very high chance that you are going to die. Your very first thought and instinct is, I need to get the hell away from all this smoke and fire.
No amount of training or discipline can really stop this from happening. Fire and smoke is bad, and you really do not want to be surrounded by it. This Syrian tank crewman acts on his instinct, and he bails out of his tank the second it catches on fire.
If I had to take a guess, I would bet that even though he escaped the burning tank, he probably still didn’t survive. Chances are pretty high that he retreated directly into enemy fire and was killed, or he was captured and executed.
