British Troops Take on American OPFOR at Joint Regional Training Center

British troops of the 1st Battalion Duke of Lancaster’s Infantry Regiment go head to head with the infamous Geronimos of the 1-509th Airborne OPFOR (opposing force) while embedding with an American brigade at the Joint Regional Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

The couple-week exercise gives American and British troops the chance to work together, which will make interoperability a snap when they undoubtedly get deployed to the same future battlefields.

“They are our closest ally. We’ve worked as a coalition now for the past 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Lt. Col. Driver said to a KALB NBC 5 New reporter. “If we don’t train together now and get used to working together, when we do deploy together, those hurdles are just so ever higher.”
