It has been confirmed that the US military has conducted cruise missile strikes against a Syrian military airfield, in what they are calling a response to this week’s chemical weapon attacks.
Details are still coming out about the attack, but Fox News is reporting that at least 50 Tomahawk missiles struck an airbase at Shayrat, located just outside Homs. This is the location believed to have been the staging point for the chemical weapon attack on Tuesday, which killed as many as 72 civilians.
President Donald Trump said that the missile strikes were in the “vital national security interest” of the United States, and called on “civilized nations” to join the U.S. and seek to “end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria.”
