Brazilian Military Police Shot Up By Heavily-Armed Criminals

Brazilian Military Policemen are patrolling in the vicinity of a Rio slum when they encounter a traffic jam. They activate the lights and the siren in order to part traffic so they can proceed on their way.

Unknown to them, heavily-armed criminals were also nearby and caught in the traffic jam. The criminals thought the police were trying to arrest them and opened fire on the squad car with automatic weapons.

One of the MPs takes a round to the face and appears to be briefly knocked unconscious. The driver begins to take evasive maneuvers to get out of the kill zone, and the wounded passenger begins to regain consciousness, although he is far from coherent and is bleeding heavily from the face.

According to the report, the wounded officer fell into a five-month coma, but has since recovered.
