Marines watch and wait for an airstrike to hit an enemy position in Fallujah, Iraq.
The blast is larger than expected and sends debris flying at great speeds and distances. They barely avoid getting hit by a chunk of concrete that would have ended them all.
That is combat. By being narrowly missed, they are on top of the world with adrenaline and most likely laughing their asses off. However, if one or more of them had been hit, it would have been a whole other story. Combat is that razor’s edge between the highest you’ve ever been on the best day of your life and the lowest feelings imaginable on your worst day when a friend is lost.
