On November 10th, 1775, two battalions of Continental Marines were formed as a service branch of infantrymen capable of fighting America’s battles both on the sea, and on the shore. In Tun Tavern Philadelphia, these men were officially brought into service, where they conducted their first amphibious assaults on March 3, 1776 taking control of both Fort Montague and Fort Nassau in the Revolutionary War. Ever since, the United States Marine Corps has been conducting operations in defense of the nation on the land, on the waters, and in the air.
Today, November 10th, 2018, the Marine Corps still stands the test of time as a tried and true branch of Military service. They have been battle tested in every war the United States has ever participated in, with each new generation of Marines bringing honor to their title, and their nation. After 243 years of faithful service, the Marine Corps will keep doing what the Marine Corps does best. Making Marines, and winning America’s Wars. For all you Teufel Hundens out there, this is your birthday message from the 37th Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Robert Nellar.
