First Ever: AH-64 Apache Attack Chopper Fires High Energy Laser

Aerospace giant Raytheon teamed up with the US Army and SOCOM to successfully fire a high energy laser from a helicopter at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

The firing is underwhelming compared to your standard conventional precision munition, but its benefits blow bombs away. These lasers weapon systems are able to identify, track, and destroy enemy missiles, mortars, unmanned vehicles, swarming boats, and other danger-close threats with little to no threat of collateral damage or fratricide. They provide precise, clean, low-cost engagements with near-infinite magazines. The future is now.
