Pinned down, and surrounded by Kurdish Peshmerga, this Daesh fighter refuses to be taken alive. In his attempt to go down fighting, and take a few people with him, he detonates the suicide vest that he is wearing as an inshallah insurance plan. It fails, the only person he succeeds in killing is himself.
There was one Peshmerga fighter close to him however, and it looks like he may have gotten some person fragmentation in him. Hopefully that Pesh fighter is still kicking and in the fight.
With the frequency of these suicide style attacks, one thing is certain. Daesh has zero intentions on winning this battle, or even dragging it out. They are doing a fast defensive action to ensure that the fighters who fled the city can get as far away as possible. They are spending their lives carelessly in a fashion that says, “We’re here to slow you down, not win,” which is painfully obvious.
If they had any intentions on winning, or truly delaying their attackers, we wouldn’t be seeing them blowing themselves up at the cyclic rate.
